A Glimpse into a Nordic winter by Leena Henningsen

Photographer, storyteller and video creator @leena.henningsen invites us to experience the magic of a Nordic winter. Leena shares her journey through days of little to no sunlight, spent in remote, isolated landscapes blanketed in snow and ice. These extreme conditions, some of the harshest on Earth, offer unparalleled beauty and a sense of tranquility that’s unlike anywhere else.

Leena lives nearby Femunden, a big lake in the Norwegian municipality of Engerdal, near the border with Sweden. She describes the experience as both tough and beautiful:

'Living through a Nordic winter is tough, but also the most beautiful thing you can experience. The days are short, dark, and freezing cold, yet they come with a very special kind of magic.'



'All the colours are softer, snow is glittering in the sunlight, the Aurora Borealis dance above you and everything invites you to embrace, like nature, a state of pure peace, rest and regeneration.'

When Leena is inside her warm, cosy home, sheltered from the cold, snow, and wind, she loves to light our ARKTIS scented candle, which captures the essence of her winter wonderland.

'If this feeling could have a smell, then it would definitely be the ARKTIS scent from @skandinavisk. To me it smells like crisp winter days, fresh snowfall and frozen mountain views.'
